I think it may easier (at least according to the article) to protect, slow or stop the destruction of the myelin sheaths compared to thickening the nerves themselves. Nonetheless if this procedure has even some merit to it, it can do nothing but help i'm sure, even if in the end its just expanding our knowledge of the disease.
