Yep I've sample a couple, never bought any bottle of them yet. Not a whole lot of american whiskeys available in our government owned LB's . Wild Turkey was good last I recall but that was before I really started to like whiskeys. Had the Jim Bean, wasn't blown away haha but palatable. Actually I think all whiskeys are palatable.

Sadly any rye in Canada is viewed as the whiskey for the common's (Crown Royal being the echelon -overrated, by far not the best- as it was created for the king) and in most bar or club type establishments it is what they assume you mean when you ask for a whiskey. Most people think your either drinking rye or "the good stuff". It is considered the low end whiskey. Only in classier or pubs will they differentiate as in what type you want.

But you are correct that most Canadian rye's are heavily blended. I can't tell you which Gibson it is as they have of course various products but all are fairly good. My friend swears by them.

Edit: Alberta Premium I believe has it's entire line to be 100% rye. It's low cost (by Canadian standards), tastes good, but near impossible to get if not Canadian. Anytime you get the chance try it but read the bottle very carefully.
