I have a Splatty that's otherwise in excellent shape, with KidneyThief's metal internals but it has a leak at the pierce-pin.
I noticed this post: Splatmaster (two questions. one leading to a project)
I have a few spare pierce-pin assemblies around.
Has anyone drilled and tapped a Splatty valve to accept replaceable pierce pin assemblies, a-la CCI Phantom or DD68 Redux?
Any issues I should be aware of? Two I can think of:
- not interfering with the valve internals
- getting the angle correct so the 12-gram lines up with the pin
EDIT - we had the best results cutting the pierce pin assembly down to 9mm.
