Free float handguard: A handguard which does not touch the barrel, increases accuracy. After each shot, the barrel vibrates, a free float handguard lets the barrel vibrate naturally without touching anything. Also, since the barrel isn't touching anything, it isn't influenced (or bent in any direction).
Magazine followers:
Black - original type. prone to tilting and sticking, causing jams and also this phenomenon in which the bullet is pushing INTO the casing because the bolt tries to push the cartridge into the chamber but the cartridge is tiled pointing down into the magazine, thus jamming the mag and pushing the bullet into the cartridge. Doesn't happen often but it does happen every once in a while.
Green- a Marine Corps innovation, better than the black follower, made to correct the mistakes the black ones had.
Anti-tilt, best follower for AR mags. Won't tilt or stick, follower always stays level.
Triggers:
Single stage - trigger breaks in one crisp pull.
Double stage - you pull the trigger half way, takes some of the force out. You can hold it half way, and pull all the way for a lighter pull. I can describe this much better but I'm in a hurry right now.
Hope this helps.
