So why'd you go with PRK instead of LASIK?
I had LASIK, full recovery time was three months. However, I was able to function normally the day after the surgery.
The day of wasn't too bad. After the surgery and the numbing effects of the drugs wore off my eyes itched terribly. But I made it a point to pass out. By the time I woke up I was fine. For a week I had to wear these protective coverings over my eyes when I slept. For almost a month I had to put steroid eyedrops in three times daily - the first day I had to do it hourly. And during the whole three months I had to make sure I was keeping my eyes moist with drops. After the first month, though, I was pretty much fine.
As I said, the day after surgery I was pretty much back to work. I'm in front of my computer all day, so I just kept putting eyedrops in on a regular basis. But I could immediately see more clearly. As for visual side effects - I'm not experiencing any. Everything about my vision is better. The doc said I may have decreased night vision, which includes seeing starbursts or halos around lights, but in fact my night vision has improved and I don't have either starbursts or halos. At worst there's a slight haze around lights, but that's it. I had starbursts before the surgery.
I can see 20/15 now.
