I don't think bore-drop alone is going to solve the problem. Here's why.

The paint that gets pinched (2nd ball in the stack) is getting CRUSHED between the unmoving snub* and the moving slide and its attached feed block.
  • To completely eliminate the possibility of that crushed second ball, the gap between slide and feed block would have to be eliminated.
  • That means removing the feed block, possibly milling the slide and attaching the feed tube directly, without a block.
  • A bore-drop conversion helps guns without a moving slide because the only "gap" where a ball can pinch is between the bolt and the unmoving snub.
  • In a gun like the DD68 Redux, converting to bore-drop would only eliminate a small amount of the gap, leaving the slide and block to pinch paint against the snub.
