The 3.5oz has the huge on/off as a reminder, but freezing your fingers a few times soon gets you into the habit of turning the 3.5oz off and getting the 7oz off quickly. It is worth it though for the consistancy.
I was thinking about how well the screw in on/offs for the mini would work on it, might try it one day
