Those are not Alligators (Alligator mississippiensis
) but more likely Spectacled Caiman (Caiman crocodilus
) . They have a maximum length of something like 6 feet. They are generally less prohibited by state law (actually, not very protected by the law at all, only Appendix 2 of CITES for most of the subspecies) . Oddly enough, they are typically more ill tempered than Alligators and are the cause of many more fatalities and attacks in thier native range ( Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecquador, El Salvador, Guyana, French Guiana, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Suriname, Tobago, Trinidad, and Venezuela)
than our local species. I do hear that they have a nice flavor though....
