I thought it was the awesomest thing ever! soon as I found out how easy it was to buy a marker and start playing in the woods with friends, it was on. i could tell right away it was something that was going to be popular for a long time (or forever), totally free form at the start, lots of outlaw ball, building our own stuff, appealing from a technical equipment aspect too (great for those of us that grew up in the outdoors and in the garage), and sporting wise it was challenging, with many different skills involved. after that it just kept getting better and better, and now its what I do for a living
for a while I was actually interested in the "speedball" hype, and blew way too much money on gear. once I found pump and starting playing for pennies, the game took on a whole new level of awesome.
