The Spyder owners that mod their setups for low pressure run into that as well. They get it down so low that they need the back pressure from the ball to force enough blowback gas through the valve grooves.
Oh, and just to mess up the pricing deal I just saw an Alleycat sell for a measely $25 + $15 shipping on ebay. Looked to be in nice shape as well. But that's just a time and place deal too.
