Yeah, the TM-15 is a wonder. I think the weight actually hurts it. We have people pick up Milsigs (same or higher price point, far less gun for the money) because they feel more robust. Those looking for military style guns don't want low weight, or at least so it would seem.

Yep. There's a new club around where we live (I say "new" but really, it's the first and only paintball interest group in the area), they started off playing at our field with 98s, bought some very milsim markers, and now half of them run around with Eteks. And last week, a few of them bought pumps. That said, some of them still play with the heavy markers all the time, and all of them play together.
And most importantly, no one gives the other person **** for the kind of marker or dress code they use.
