Almost every retail business works this way. Music stores make very little(less than 10%) on big ticket items like guitars and amps, but make almost 50% of the price of strings, straps, picks and the like. And its this same reasoning behind the fact that microsoft has taken a loss on almost every x-box they've ever sold.They make they're money on the software.
