They're Nelson based, in the worst way possible. A CCI Phantom valve can be adapted to work with a Splatmaster but nothing else is compatible.

Instead of a conventional bolt and hammer setup, the Splatmaster's moving barrel is what seals the breech and carries the momentum to impact the bolt that's attached to the powertube.

Having owned a KidneyThief metal splatmaster (aluminum barrel, cocking mechanism etc) the novelty wears off fast unless everyone else is using one too.

I'm all for nostalgia but I just don't see that many people springing for these.
