| When you have it out, look in the port(s) on the side of the valve body at the cupseal face(the front face inside of the rear of the valve). On a montneel, you can usually tell if the cupseal is out of alignment, even if just a bit, by how it sits against the powertube.
EDIT: Also, gas the gun up, fire a few shots to get it leaking really well, then quickly degas and disassemble the gun right before you check the valve. Might not be so easy to spot if its had time to sit, considering you said it only leaks a bit at first but gets continually worse.
