The basic 'style' description you use neglects the fact that ANY good player is going to be using fundamental skills (Movement-Angles-Teamwork) regardless his or her technology.

This is a wonderful post. Rath is essentially saying that without a purpose (Telos in greek) built into the playing style - it just devolves into a bunch of rules.
This what I think harmed the NSA this year - no purpose - just rules. Winchesters and BE Pocket hoppers were in - but Sportshots were out... why - a arbitrary choice on the limit of how many paintballs you can carry.
I don't mind rules - tourney's need them - but they must have a purpose. I play open class pump in a PSP mode world for the purposes Rath mentioned above - I play stock class when I am forced to play recreationally for the same purpose. I care little about the rest of the rules.

I agree - Stock Class tourneys are dominated by CCI's and Carters... neither are legal... some of these rules are lame and simply reflect a time frame and not a inherant goal to be obtained.
It is like someone wrote them and said - let's make rules that were like when I played in 1986 or something.
