it's got a pretty stiff pump stroke compared to higher end nelsons, probably on account of unpolished internals as well as having a return spring. one of the pumps i tried was polished and had a somewhat smoother pump stroke. i suspect further polishing and spring tuning would soften it further, but seeing how this is supposed to be a beginner gun, i am not surprised it's crude compared to the carters and others that we are used to on here. it works, and that's probably a more important priority for a beginner gun.
