Honestly I was never a fan of the a/t, as it seems like it was an afterthought (actually the whole sliding trigger design does imho), so I avoid it like the plague even before I found out there were so many potential issues it would cause.
From what I understood, they both kind of were, because people started asking for it after they had prototyped a non-AT'd hinge triggered platform that lacked a hammer. I often wonder what it would have been like in it's original form, without the issues caused by the groove in the original hammers. I've never been able to AT my Thumper correctly (not that I'd want to, it's my SC gun
