The same thing happens whenever the idea of a limited or custom run product gets kicked around, especially with Phantoms. Someone asks for a speciality body/barrel/frame/pump kit, generates some interest, and everything falls to pieces the first time "hey I would totally pay up to $40 for that extremely difficult to machine part" is uttered. It's unfortunate really.
Just look at Avratech's stainless bodies. They are $90 a piece (with no idea on Josh's profit margins on the R7 and accessories) and might be easier than a Phantom body to machine.
I seem to recall KPCS mentioning stainless bodies earlier this year.
