You use cocker barrels correct? The Electrical tape detent works great on my Sterling give that a try. It's non-destructive costs next to nothing and it works for me.
Here is a thread that has several different detent ideas. Just do a search for detents and you'll find all kinds of solutions/suggestions on how to fix your issue.

Started with a Splatmaster, moved onto a Nelspot 007, then came the Autocockers, then a STERLING Pump, next was a Bob Long defiant then a PM7. As of now I have 4 Sterling Pumps, 2 Phantom for SC and 2 Spyder's plus a bunch of extra parts.
