I'm leaning toward pistol rogue on this one, how often do people remove or adjust their front sights? Even with first strike rounds, we're not talking about a 9mm or other handgun, the accuracy is just not there to be worrying so much about adjusting your sights.
If the set screw were to be located off center, there's only about .065" thickness of aluminum meaning you could only get about two full threads for a 4-40 set screw. Locating it in the center give you much more aluminum to thread into. So as well as looks, it's also a matter of function for the set screw to be located in the center.
