I have been eating Primal / Paleo since last spring. It is a Great Diet especially if you use the word Diet as a Noun: food and drink regularly provided or consumed or habitual nourishment A Diet is a long term way of eating throughout your life.
That is in comparison to using the word Diet as a Verb Where you are "Dieting"; to eat sparingly or according to prescribed rules; using that way of eating as a short term way of getting to a desired physical condition...to Loose Weight, or to Gaining Weight or Gaining muscle, etc.

Paleo is not just a way of eating; it is a change in lifestyle that can truly improve your quality of life.

One of the best websites for getting information on Paleo Primal eating is marksdailyapple.com by Mark Sisson.

A good way to quickly learn a lot about primal is to listen to podcasts from iTunes about Primal/Paleo. I would Highly recommend listening to any or ALL of the following podcasts that are available free on iTunes
  • The Paleo Solution Podcast by Robb Wolf
  • The Fat Burning Man by Abel James
  • Relentless Roger and the Caveman Doctor
  • The Dr Lo Radio Show
  • Underground Wellness
  • The Smarter Science of Slim
The podcasts are magazine like, talk shows, that give you some really good information and points of view that are in an easily digestible 30 minute to an hour shows.
If you search podcasts on iTunes for Mark Sisson, just about any interview that he does, is packed with interesting and understandable information about the Ancestral or Paleo or Primal Diet. They are all basically the same lifestyle and way of eating. Look for stuff from Dr. Loren Courdain, Dr. Paul Jaminet, Jimmy Moore, Laura Gedgaudas, the list could go on and on. Some of the individuals will have slightly different "takes" on what is permitted or not permitted.
Mark Sisson has a number of books; including "The Primal Blueprint" that explains so much about the Diet and way of life. Robb Wolf's book, "The Paleo Solution" is also a great read.
I was in Barnes and Noble at Christmas time and there are dozens and dozens of cookbooks available on the topic. You can also Google “Paleo Diet” and find hundreds if not, thousands of options for websites with information and Recipes.
The information that you will uncover will likely surprise you. It will show you that much of what has been promoted by the government, big business and advertising about eating and health over the past 50 years is "at best" faulted.

In my own words, the fundamental basics of eating a Primal Diet are:
Eat Foods that are Nutrient Dense, rather than Calorie Dense
Eat a Somewhat Low Carbohydrate diet, concentrating on eating lots of Non-Starchy Vegetables. The more color in the vegetable, the more likely it is to be more nutritious. Shop for dark leafy green vegetables or ones that are vibrant colors.
Eat More Quality Protein…MEAT
Eating More GOOD Fats (no that is NOT a misprint)
Avoiding Processed Sugars as a source of carbohydrates
Avoiding Grains in your Diet
Avoid highly processed seed oils.

Cook the food yourself. Avoid Processed Foods in General. When you go to the grocery store, do the great majority of your food shopping along the outside walls of the store. Fresh Produce, Meat Fish Poultry, Dairy products cheese eggs. Buy the food that is fresh and that needs refrigeration (but not freezing).
Most of what you find on the shelves of the inside aisles is heavily processed food that is prepackaged and filled with processed sugars, grains, seed oils and preservatives.

In essence Eat Like a Vegetarian but Eat LOTS of Good Quality Meat. Not low fat meat. Eat Good Quality meat.

Investigate it for Yourself. Read, Listen, Eat, Enjoy and THRIVE
