But really, awesome cars if you can get over the (many, many) intricacies of working on one. A good friend of mine had a 944 Turbo project going on for a few years before he couldn't take working on it anymore. He's since gotten rid of all of his other projects and picked up a GT40 kit car last summer - lots of chassis reinforcement, suspension work, and body work going on currently. It's going to have a new Ford Coyote motor in it eventually - should be VERY interesting in a vehicle that weighs around 2200lbs.
Also, if you plan on tracking it, you might want to take a look at the oiling issues common with the LS1 - or you might end up belly-up with it sooner than later.
