Yup, my experience with them as well. I have two with the slot oriented fore and aft and one at an offset angle and really can not tell the difference in performance. The Magic Fish lips do seem to do something to aid loading as I have one early version that did not have them and it seemed to require more shaking. Neck is broken on that one and eventually I'll fashion some Fish Lips and install as part of the repair [if I do not install an agitator modified from an old 9V Revvy ]. For me the ideal hopper has the outline of the Whaler with the added benefit of quiet agitation.
