| Need? No. I've been wearing BDU pants for about 7 years and they last pretty well, and have appropriate belt loops and pocket. I can't imagine playing in jeans from a comfort standpoint, plus they seem like they'd be super hot.
However, I can't seem to find kneepads that are comfortable enough to run and crawl in, and am sick of my knees getting trashed on rocks and brush in the woods, so lately I have considered buying some camo paintball specific pants. They are padded in appropriate areas (groin, knees, hips, etc) for sliding and protection from hits. If you play speedball frequently, you're going to be doing a lot of sliding and diving (probably), and might find things like kneepads and jock straps restrict your mobility too much as well.
Really it comes down to whatever you feel comfortable playing in in terms of mobility and climate control. |
