BIG problem with that statement. A transistor doesn't carry out an operation. What it does is either block or allow current to flow from drain to source. It's an on/off switch. How that turns on or off depends on the transistor type.
The news is that they can make a very small transistor. Okay, so? Moore's law is going to take a leap now that they've discovered this new kind of transistor. They still can't build a true positronic matrix like in Star Trek that is capable of intelligent and autonomous thought. It can try and mimic it, yes, but actually emulate it? Nope. And I know that they never will be able to do it. It takes something MORE than just a neurological computer to make a human actually human. It takes a soul. Creating THAT is something we can NEVER do. Only God can do that. |
And He would never use His Noodley Appendage for such a blasphemous purpose as creating Data.
In all seriousness, i've encountered computer AI that is significanly more 'intellegent' than some people i've worked with;
something that also should be considered though, is the fact that our entire commercial computer technology is based on bolean logic (AND, OR, NOT, EXCEPT OR, etc) so we would have to figure out a way to integrate such a processing unit into existing technology.
