As you know, the valve is "floating". It needs about a 1/4" of play, as its designed to slide back and forth when the gun fires.

As odd as it sounds, the forward cupseal stays fixed against the powertube, and the valve moves around it. So something is preventing the valve from floating properly. Maybe the microline is binding somewhere? Or the fittings are binding? or rubbing against something?

You could try gassing up with the forward breech removed. THEN adding the breach. Then might push the valve in, so that it can properly seat when the gun is fired.
