Merit works very well on small pests, but they need to injest it to work. I only like it for scales, mainly magnolia scale. Was at a recent class and they explained how merit and others in its family work on white grubs. Basically they stop grooming themselves (which the do 80% of the time) and this allows parisites in the soil to attack them, with no direct death caused by the chemical. So Merit is bug LSD and turns grubs into hippies.
