Point to be made here...

I just got a notice from BATFE regarding the increasing reality of paintball and airsoft accessories that mimic real ordnance. I cannot forward or repost the e-mail as it came to me in through official channels. One set of pictures compare and contrast the Rap4 grenades with the Greek EM 1 grenade. From three feet you cannot tell the difference. Other sets show various paintball grenades alongside real grenades and again, from three feet you cannot tell what is real and what is not. The notice goes on to say basically if it looks like a grenade treat it like a grenade, call EOD.

I am beginning to think we have gone too far in the MilSim aspect of our sport. Sometime soon someone is going to drop one of these at 7-11 on the way to a game and joe blow citizen is going to find it. EOD will be called, and we again have a article in the newspaper about paintball that may not reflect to well on our sport. (depending on the journalist writing it)

Now don’t get me wrong, I will still wear camouflage utilities, assault vest, dark colored markers, and so on. Because form follows function, we are in simulated combat in the woods so we use similar gear to the military. But we also must be aware about public image too. How we are portrayed is more important as how we really are.

My $0.02, your milage may vary.
