Of course they're going to always err on the side of caution. If you assume something is safe and it isn't, it's only bad news. They have to assume a mock device (or just something unknown) is the real thing. It's just the society we live in. With all the bad crap happening in the world, can you blame them? After all... it could potentially be fatal..
I honestly don't think paintball is going to get that bad of a reputation because of milsim gear. Heck, a large market for it is actually law enforcement and military. Also, people have been holding up 711s for a long time with toy guns.... or even just a finger in the pocket.
Honestly, if someone were to drop a mock grenade (paintball, airsoft or whatever) in a 711 and the bomb squad was called, would it honestly have a huge impact? There is such a huge fear about potential impact of things that I feel has no basis. It might have a small impact in that local area for a day or two because of a 3 minute segment on the local 11pm news... that's about it. About as much as if a plastic toy grenade was left. I feel something like this would have about as much impact on the sport as a whole as a pebble in the ocean.
My $.02... probably not even worth that... |
