| This is a very old thread...I know. But for future reference stretching the spring is not good. It can wear the spring out quicker and is only a temporary fix, often times causing worse problems down the road. The best way to alleviate the pin popping up is removing the pin and spring and putting 1 or 2 #006 O-rings into the back of the bolt before the spring. This puts pretension on the spring providing better holding power to keep the pin down but you do not alter the spring in any way.
Another option is using a drill bit to take a small amount of material out of the top indentation on the pin. It worked for me very well, but I recommend caution as you could damage the pin if you take to much material away.
