Caliber depends on what you're doing. .22 and .20 are nicer for shooting critters and can, and shooting distances, but if it's something you think you'll get into, just about all competitions are held in .177, so you might as well get used to that caliber if that's where you think you'll end up. .177 is higher velocity, .20 is a good compromise between the two major calibers, but is harder to find
