Copied from my post on the Minnesota Militia web site:

So, what's a Brown Note you ask?

It's a little device that mounts to the end of your barrel to increase the report of your marker. The heck with stealth, let's scare the crap out of them instead!

I picked this up from Noxx55 on www.mcarterbrown.com He also has his own site, www.noxx55customs.googlepages.com . I was one of the first to order and paid $20 shipped. Each one is custom made to the diameter you order. I ordered mine for a 1 inch barrel, that way I can add electrical tape to any of my barrels to make it work.

This is what it looks like.

It was packed very well and made it to me without a scratch. I did notice the burrs hadn't been cleaned up very well where the device was drilled and tapped for the set screw. A quick once over on the interior with a small file did the trick.

I mounted it to my On Target barrel which is a 1 inch diameter on the end, and ported in this area. The set screw fit perfectly into one of the ports and the Brown Note was long enough to cover all the porting, plus extend the barrel length by about an inch.

So, time to test it, but I don't have a decibel meter so this is what I did. I had my wife Heather stand in front of me, in the garage. She was about 15 feet away. I told her I was going to test fire with and without the tip. I had her cover her eyes with her hands so she could not see when I was going to shoot. The first shot was taken without the Brown Note installed. She did not react when I shot, just said, "Okay". So I installed the Brown note and took a shot. This time she jumped and said, "What the hell was that!" I noticed a marked difference in the report of the marker. I really adds a loud CRACK! to the sound.

My impressions, it does what it was designed to do.
