WGP has always used proprietary material in their bodies. I.E. theoretically 80 series. 6061 is good assumption because it's a common material. But you don't know. Even if you talk to the manufacturer. THEY likely don't even know what they've got on the shelve or where it came from.
Introduction of impurities? Will happen regardless of the welder's talents. To what extent is unknown. Re anodizing will leave a color difference unless the whole body is resurfaced. To what extent is also unknown.
The big question is how far will you go? Do you want the most perfect repaired cocker body on the planet or do you just want to make it look nice under the scrutiny of average joe shmoe at the field?
