But really when one graphics card costs as much as a ps3 makes me wonder why I bother upgrading, renewing and refurbishing my already aging computer hardware. I bought my 8800gt after my 5 yr old but heavily overclocked 7600gt gave out mere months ago. Now the 9800gt is set to hit the marker. Dual core might become a thing of the past within a year, with the arrival of octo-core (yes 4 dual core chips on a mobo).
Buying a ps3 will let you play games for years (how long did the ps2 last? ) with only minor software upgrades available for free.
Why do pc gamers bother anymore?

Agreed. WHen it'll cost me $2k to properly overhaul my PC (only real way to upgrade it now.....all it's internals went obsolete since 939 pin standard became a thing of the past), sorry, but no. My PS3 is fantastic and does what a next gen computer gaming system would.....but cost me far less and looks incredible. The choice wasn't hard.
