Wow, what an intense thread about having fun outdoors shooting paintballs at people who want to shoot paintballs with you!

Let me introduce myself first since I don’t post much here (but do lurk), my name is Gavin “Carbide” Sullivan and I am the XO of Blacklight Company. I was the green rocket man in shorts with a grill mask, I was also the guy with the megaphone at night. This was the 4th Colorado Fledgling game that I have attended.

This was the best game that Jim has put on so far, even with the flaws that the game had.

Paint- 7/10 this was the best paint Jim has had to date, and he has listened to players about this because the paint has been improving over time.

Field- 6/10, the spring game is never as good as the fall game as far as the field goes. In the fall the grass is 2-4’ high in many places. Most of the trees have filled out. The land bridge looks like something out of a Nam movie, and produces some awesome fire-fights.

Ref’s- Number of refs 3/10 quality of refs 5/10, First there was a shortage of refs, no doubt. Second the refs were wet behind the ears. However in defense of the producer the turn out was nearly double past numbers (old record 250, this weekend 400+). Also the team that has ref’ed in the past wanted to get a run on the field, can you blame them?

Game Organization- 6/10 Jim tries hard to run a good game. I think that a little reading up on games theory might help a bit but I can’t really complain too much. They cover what you need to know during the briefings. The problem is that much of the briefing also contains inside jokes and tangents.

Weather- 8/10 yup the wind blew, it does every time and I’ve seen it blow from all points of the compass in Agate. But for anyone who played the whole weekend of Attack on the Hive, this was the best weather ever. We played there in driving rain and it got so cold on Saturday night that my tent iced up!

I don’t go to Agate expecting to play great paintball, I go to SPPL for that. I don’t go to Agate for great Scenario play either, not really my bag anyway.

I go to Agate for the friends and the fun. To meet new people and swap stories. I know that I’m going to spend some cash and sleep in a tent. I’m going to b!+ch about the ______ (weather, paint, other team, my team, Psycho, and the list goes on). I’m going to drink some cold-ones (in a can) and if I get around to it, and I always do, I’m going to play some paintball and make some new stories.
