Local wireless internet providers

I'm moving to the country, well not country country, just outside a moderate sized town in Texas on 2 acres. Coming from less than .20 acre lot, this is huge for me. But moving from the city to the country has some challenges. Now right now I have 10MB down and 512KB up with my local cable provider. The place I am moving to does not have cable and will never get cable. DSL is also out of the picture as is broadband satellite ( reason is the 2 second delay negate VPN connections on satellite ). So all that I have left is wireless internet option from two local providers. They use that microwave/radio technology to send and receive signals.

I was wondering if anyone has real experience with wireless local providers and any wisdom they could pass on to me?

So far I have had a site survey and signal test. I also asked about the tower's 2007 down time report. Anything else?
