I worked a scenario game where insertions were done at random times, so that teams wouldn't do a banzai charge just a few minutes before ressurect time. I liked the idea...for one thing, you could go refill your air and paint, maybe have a beverage, a bite to eat..etc. If you missed the ressurect time, there would be another a while later. Several insertion points for each team seemed to be a bit confusing for that game, but otherwise, I thought overall it was a well thought out game.

Maybe it's the same reason why I don't like everybody getting a trophy in Little League, etc. & I can understand the idea that promoters want everybody to be actively participating in their games; but I like seeing people rewarded and in p-ball that would be a victory.
I think I'd rather have timed reinserts every 15 or 20 mintues. That would give the aggressors a window of opportunity to close out a game. Otherwise I'd suggest letting a limited number of people back in a shorter time period (say 5-10 people every 5 mins.)
For example if it's 100 v. 100 and a 1 hour game... 5 people reinserted every 5 minutes. That would potentially be an extra 60 people recycled back into the game. Just enough to make getting KIA something to still be respected, and also enough that people who are taken out early in the game can get back in so as to no limit their play time.
Heck I'd even go for a larger amount of people being let back in at say 15/30/45 mintue marks. |
