| For a mirror shine on my SL 68 I went through several complete stages of paper. 80, 100, 200, 400, 600, 1000, 1400, 1600, 1800 and 2000. It wasnt until I hit 2000 that I noticed a big difference when hit with mothers mag and aluminum polish. But when that went on it was like looking into a mirror. I have never gone further than the initial polish but thats also because if I tried to anno that pot metal I am told it would for the most part dissolve in the cleansing stages.
For your situation I would skip the 80-200 unless the scratch is real deep then id go down to the 200.
Now I am also told that if I were to have do it to a gun not made of low end aluminum pot metal that it would come out perfectly.
