Tippmann A5 would give you a pretty decent platform to build from. Right out of the box they're pretty good. With a barrel upgrade, they're great.

Not too expensive -- and with the E-grip upgrade, you "could" get a fair ROF (if you're into that thing)

Did I mention that A5's are nearly indestructible?
