| An SL would make a great first pump. Cheap, Tougher than nails, and has a nice feel to it. I don't think they have a detent (been a while since I've had one), but you can always use the old tricks (dab of nail polish, or some tape), and eliminate the problem. Biggest issues with the SLs are, the feed-tubes are often cracked, and they do not take normal hoppers without an adapter.
As for the one you're looking at: The paint job looks like spray-paint, and the "Custom" cocking handle looks he hacked up a stock pump. The J&J barrel is a nice plus though. I wouldn't pay more than $65 shipped for that one.
Personally, I would sell the Halo, get the ex-rental and try it out. The stock barrels on those are actually pretty decent, but since it was a rental, it might be in sad shape, but you can always upgrade later, and still come in waay under his asking price. If that place with the rental is not local for you, I would suggest calling them up and seeing if the pump stroke is still decent, just to make sure not too much dirt has been run through it, and make sure the feed-tube isn't cracked. And looking at that picture, there is no safety in the rental one. Since it's a pump, it's not the hugest deal as long as you've got a plug or condom, but some fields might whine.
