It doesn't ****ing matter what they watch.
If a parent says: Guns are bad, they're evil! Then of course the kid will want a look-alike "anything" he can get his hands on.
If a parent says: Guns are useful for defense and hunting. They are dangerous, and can hurt and kill someone. Buy said kid a BB gun and teach him gun safety.
The said kid will have respect for paintball markers and real guns.
