Glock and XD both serve the same niche. Dependable, "service" accuracy (don't buy the super accuracy reports out of a service pistol), and designed for day to day carry. That being said I lean towards the Glocks - mostly because I keep a 10MM around for hiking / woods carry and aside from a bigger grip its the same as carrying my 9MM day to day as far as useage. Something that XD does not offer IIRC
