correct not all files that end in .avi are the same as they have been (
) coded in different ways... ever heard of DivX? thats a codec (used to encode/decode) and there are many more both Video and Audio codecs...
Think of them as magic decoder rings!!!
Quick time doesn't come with all these codec's installed and has links to the major ones on its website.
