Diadem Semi only board programming questions

I'm messing with my semi only Diadem team gun ( no eyes) and see that there is a switch on the board that when used , can allow me to change the board led from green to red.

Anyone have info on what this means or what I can do with it?
I read the D-ITS manual but it only refers to the board two programing buttons.

Does it fire with a ball in place (or your finger with no air attached)? If not it's some sort of safety. That's what the later Diadems did with one of the buttons.
