Hey all, Noticed my velocity with reballs is bouncing around in my micromag with a classic valve. Any specific reason for this? It has all new orings everywhere. Spiking velocity is due to something in the reg, so I stupidly took apart the piston today, but I put it back together properly (I think?), and screwed in the screw that holds in the piston spring and guts with teflon tape (No loctite on hand). Did I mess up the piston by taking it apart, or is it possible that crappy sized reballs are the cause?

What kind of spikes are we taking about? 5-15 should be normal.

No sorry, I mean the screw inside the piston. It's like a thin screw that you can stick a large allen key in. So in the brass piston body, I put the rubber plate, then the metal plate, then the spring, then the screw to hold it all in. The mag was leaking out of the velocity adjuster until I teflon taped that screw, then it stopped, but the velocity spikes are still there. Other than the piston, I don't think anything else would cause inconsistent velocity. But I am a mag noob.

If it's leaking out the back the pressure is too high. That hole is pressure relief. That's a pretty big fluxuation. What kind of output does your tank have?

Its a ninja hpa tank. I suppose about 800psi output. Supposed to be fairly consistent air pressure output. Yeah I thought it was a pressure relief hole, there is no air leakage out of it anymore, just the velocity spikes.

Check the spring pack, it should be clean and lubed with a light grease. Oil the Valve, check it with Paint, could be the Reballs maybe?

Thanks. I greased the spring pack today. I wiped off the old grease and put a lithium based grease on it. I've oiled all orings possible, don't know what else I could oil.

All I can suggest is shooting some oil through the asa (non petrol based of course) and testing with paint.
