Opinions on Y-Frame

So I've been considering picking up a 'mag down the road (pretty far down the road, maybe by the summer, maybe not until the fall), but I've been looking at the options. Choices of trigger frame seem to be pretty thin, seems like it's intelliframe or the stock plastic frame. I like single triggers, and plastic is cool with me, but is that frame compatible with the ULE trigger kit? More importantly, what are people's experiences with the Y-Frame? At first I discounted as an option, but the more I look at it and think about it, I feel like it's probably pretty comfy. Opinions? Thanks...

The ULT can be used with the carbon-fiber frame. I have not used the Y or Z but have used a Triton, Intelli, carbon-fiber, benchmark and Airwalk. By far I like the Triton the best. Triton frames can be found here RPG Triton Hybrid Frame - PB Legion

As always this post is filled with personal preference so take it with a grain of dust...

I liked the y-grip but it's definitely something you have to get use to. If you don't feel like giving it the time I would suggest the Intelliframe. I eventually came back to my Intelliframe though.

You should look here, Automags.Org Online Forums - Z-grip/Y-grip pros & cons
It's mostly about Z grips but some good info none the less.

The bad thing about the y-frame is trying to run and shoot at the same time. For me it feels unnatural to run with my hands tucked close to my body. Which is what you end up doing when you shoot with the y-frame. My favorite mag frame is the rpg chimera which is a 90* frame. The shape allows you to hold it from multiple angles.

I had a pneu'd Y frame and it was good for a tight setup but I prefer 45* and 90* frames. I'd say buy a used one to try out and sell it if you don't like it. Mags parts hold their value pretty well.

This seems to be a common problem with new Maggers. The fact is that there's a pretty good selection of trigger frames to choose from, you just have to find them. Here's a short list off the top of my head:

AGD Aluminum/Carbon Fiber Single Trigger
AGD Intelliframe
AGD Y-Frame
AGD Z-Grip
RPG Triton
Magnus Emancipator 90 Degree Frame
Logic Paintball Airwalk V1 and V2
Logic Paintball Stormwalk
Benchmark Frame

The easiest ones to get would be the first three frames since you can buy the Intelli and Y frames brand new and carbon fiber grips are all over the place. The rest you'd have to find on BST forums since they're either older models or not commonly produced, which is a bit of a hassle but well worth the effort on occasion.

Oh and one more thing, nearly everything for Mags is interchangeable with other versions. The biggest exception would be the RT Classic pieces, but that's not very common anyways.

I came crawling back to my Intelliframe too. It is just one of those things you have to try for yourself. A part of me really wanted to like it just cause it is different (same goes for the Warp Feed).

Thanks for the info, everyone, much appreciated. Just one more question, if anyone knows: ULT compatible with a classic valve, or only the xvalve?
