Autococker frames modified for Automag?

I was going over my Classic tonight and got the idea of modifying an autococker frame to use on my 'Mag. The one that I want to use is one of the 90 degree frames from ANS. I was holding up the one I've got for my blue cocker to the thing and it seems like it'll work with very little modifying. The biggest part will be that the little triggering rod off the bellcrank will need to angle down a few degrees. Seems that the trigger hinge pin on the stock frame is right where the oval 3way rod is located so I can't really use that without making up some ugly as sin blocks. I'd rather put the pin in just below or just behind and adjust the rod's length or angle a touch.

Anyone tried this?

Another option that came up was to use the frame from an Ion. The neat thing about that is that the vertical adapter is part of the frame so it would be a cinch to mount a gas through grip or an expansion chamber if I go with CO2. There's room in there for the circuit board so I'd need to make up a filler block that would actually have the trigger's mounting pin screw to the base and the frame would then slot on over top and I'd just need to make a large enough opening to let the frame slip on over the trigger.

Either way I'm falling in love with 90 frames recently and feel like everything should have one....

I've done it a couple of times. It's not too hard, but to get the right trigger geometry, you kind of need to put the trigger pin just to the rear of the middle of the timing rod slot on the cocker frame, so you need a plug or somesuch for those slots. Getting that done on a small scale is a pain in the arse.

I've got a frame that I can sacrifice to try lowering the pin's hole to just under the slotted one. The angle of the firing rod will be lowered slightly but I doubt it'll be a big deal. I just need to make the new trigger so it meets the face of the rod so there's a 90 degree angle to the hinge pin to minimise any sliding action.

I've always filled in the slot and drilled through it, although it sounds like modifying the trigger would do just as well. You may be able to mod an existing AGD trigger other than cutting your own.

The MOUNTING holes match up perfectly. Different length screws needed but that's not a big deal.

The slotted hole we're talking about is the one for the 3way rod. If you compare the cocker frame to the AGD one the slotted hole is right where the hinge pin for the AGD style swing needs to be located. But like I said I don't see much harm in having it out of place by only 1/8 to 3/16 inch.

id like to see how this turns out. hinge frames are awesome, and id would be tight to see one on a mag. OR, even better, since cocker frames can (kinda) fit on mags, id like to see an agd y-frame on a cocker. it would need some drilling, but that would be freakin awesome to see

thumper is GOD....of making a slider into a pivot...so it should work for mags which is what i was thinking
http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/p...close-ups.html
EDIT* I dont know where to find his other pics of the sliders he converted into pivots

you know....you could use use the slider for the mag......if the sear fits behind the trigger plate....it would be just dandy back there

or you could cut the plate some....and still use the rod so you get the right leverage on the pull.........hummmm yet another thing i must try out
