| Active Member Join Date: Apr 2010 | NEW! AGD Carbon Fiber Y-Grip v2.0!!! (thanks Ando)
OK so after playing with my original one big thing I noticed was that I had the handle curved. (original v1.0 pics here: AGD Carbon Fiber Y-Grip!) This caused two problems (guess it depends how you look at it). First, you felt like you were reaching for the trigger. Second, the curve just didnt feel quite right. Not uncomfortable, just not right. So that was one change, a straight back. This not only make it more comfortable, but it also made making handles for this a lot easier. It just so happens that the way I glued it back together the handle is one inch longer then the original, I just copied the OG grips and added an inch. The second change is that its now a double trigger, Thanks to Ando for sending me that. I like that because I can choose to shoot single shots by using the bottom of the trigger with more leverage, or I can easily RT it by pressing the top, almost like having firing mode options. I also added to spacers on the trigger pin to force the trigger to stay center, and it has almost no side-to-side play because of that. I had to add to the safety arm of the trigger, otherwise it would still fire with the safety on. I also twisted the little sear arm 3.5 turns out. With the spacers and the sear arm adjustment, there is almost no play in any direction. This new one is a little more angled then the Y-Grip, but less then the Z-Grip. I may still modify the original version to have the option of single vs double. Again, I still plan on making some aluminum grip panels, but not because of strength, because the aluminum looks better now, but will look nice if I actually get this all re-anno'd like I want to. After play a couple weeks ago, I have no doubts that the JB weld will hold up. I suppose I don't really beat the crap out of my marker so IDK. I am playing sunday so I guess we'll see how this one holds up. Last edited by SockMonkey; 07-28-2010 at 11:38 AM. |

Thanks You couldnt unless you did some milling and made space, then I'd be worried about strength. If you look at the second pic in the first link, thats basically what you are working with. oldskool, I may have to hit you up on that. The grip is the same as the original plastic grips, just an extra inch taller, and I use them on the opposite sides. |

the grips are kinda glued on there now (not permanently, but would destroy them if removed). If you look at the link in the beginning of the post, that was the first one I made. This one looks the same, just the bottom cut piece was epoxied closer to the fore grip eliminating that curve, giving it a straight line up the back. *ADD* All I did was use some spring clamps to hold the two pieces down, in position, to a small piece of flat plexi glass (with a piece of paper between to stop the epoxy from sticking to the plexi glass). Then used electrical tape to 'hold' the JB weld in place (JB weld is an AWESOME steel epoxy). Then let it sit over night and do some sanding/shaping.
