I can't remember, but is there a pierce pin seal in the plug or is the area where the cartridge sits pressurized? If it's not pressurized then it's a matter of milling a drop slot in the tube and finding a way to retain the cap rather than having it fully removable .. that would be simplest and would keep the dimensions pretty close (if not exactly the same) to what they are now.
