Minimag: finish?

Does anyone know what the black finish is on some Minimag bodies? Paint? Powdercoat? I'm trying to predict how it will react to laser engraving.

I'll try lasing a spot on the underside to see what it does. Thanks. I'll report my findings.

They are a teflon coating and you can laser them no problem. I have 2 buddies that had thiers done like 12 years ago when they were doing it at the IAO tourny back then. They still have them and the teflon isn't pealing or any thing where they were lasered.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I'll still probably test an inconspicuous spot, but I won't be as nervous. Did the laser markings turn out white?

When you laser (and then don't refinish) it stays whatever the color of the base metal.. so in this case stainless steel would be the light grey/gray color that a normal mag body is.
